We have been working for years to build a professional and trustworthy buisness. Ball Pythons have aways been our passion, we have been collecting and selective breeding to bring you the best example of each animal that we can.
N.A.R.C was established a few years ago, when we decided to branch off on our own into the reptile trade, we actually didnt start calling ourselves N.A.R.C untill a few months ago, most people just knew us as Kim and Matt. We actually came up with the name as an inside joke between us and a friend on a long drive home form a NC reptile show, and it just stuck. N.A.R.C stands for North American Reptile Connection , (as if you havent realized that yet), the purpose of our buisness is simple, we are here to educate those who know little about reptiles and to set them up with a reptile that is perfect for them, we are also here to help those looking to extend there already extensive collections of high end specialty morphs in the Ball world, and we also offer many varities from common to rare geckos to suit many people, But mostly we are here because we truly love working with these aniamls day in and day out, i couldnt picture life differently.
Anyways now that i have that out of the way let me introduce ourselves to you. Our names are Kim Audette and Matt Lee, we actually met in the reptile trade 10 years ago. Ironically we were both into Balls, I guess its hard to find a die hard reptile chic or so i have been told, lol. Anyways we stayed friends for awhile attending shows everyonce in awhile when we had extra time, but as the years passed we both found ourselves working at Regal Reptiles and we have been unseperatable since. We have been engaged for a year now and we are getting married in June 07, not that everyone who is reading this wants to know about our love life (well some may but, oh never mind) Most people want to hear about the snakes, so here we go.
We started collecting pythons 4 years ago and have gathered a desent size collection since. When we first met Matt was also into geckos which we have also kept through the years and (of corse) expanded. Our geckos range from Cresteds to leachiauns, we mainly work with Rhacodactylus ( a new Caledonian species). Our reptiles consume the best part of our day and attending shows every weekend leaves little to no time to do anything else. Our snakes are our lives, and we are proud of that. We have worked hard to get where we are and i can honestly say i enjoy every minute of it. I can remember the first Ball Python i ever had, it was a 13th birthday prescent from my parents. Before my 13th birthday i wasnt allowed to own sankes, i use to hide them in shoe boxes under my bed. lol. They use to get out all over the house and my mother use to find them, she always made me let them go, but i always found another one. Now i look at our collection we went from 1 to over 600, 600 and working on more!!! We are estamating another 500 will be added by the time the end of 2006 comes, we have eggs in the incubator and alot more on the way, plus i had to add in all the "i wants, and have to haves" in there, you know those snakes you cant pass up and just have to have no matter what, yeah i find one at every show. We literally (i swear to this) breath, eat, sleep, and dream snakes. When we go on long trips to shows its all we talk about, i mean who cares about where or when you eat, and where you sleep when you can talk about genetics and what will be breeding this season. Well... Exccept for my brother Greg who helps us with the shows, he actually works for dinner..lol so he kind of cares if we stop or not.
Our snakes are like our children, hey children come in all shapes and sizes. My 3 years old is fawn and black, 135 lbs and is covered in wrinkles, granted hes a Bull Mastiff but who said kids have to be human. Dogs are my second love, i have worked with them all my life. I know this is a snake site. (Back on track) I can truthfully say that Matt knows every single breeder we have by number code and look. Ill test him sometimes while cleaning cages he never misses one, and we have alot... We know are snakes very well, we know there personalities, and when they are not acting like themselves. People probally think were crazy either that or they dont beleive us when i talk about how well we know them, but after all they are our children! Honestly some of the CH hold backs can get very confussing we dont know all of them, YET. It takes time to get to know them. All of the babies that we produced and all of our breeders i can tell you anything you want to know about each one down the line and so can Matt. We take pride in knowing that we can stand behind our animals 100% with out any questions asked, we know exactlly what we have to sell, and can guarentee it.
Some people just dont understand it, Reptiles are an ADDICTION, no questions asked, if your reading this i am assuming you have been bit by the bug too, i personally was bit by the Bumble Bee, my first true love in the Ball Python World. (Yes i capatalize World, those in this trade i am sure understand, Balls have there own Universe unlike anything on this planet). I could talk about the trade for hours and hours, about politics (snakes politics are worse then the goverment), and good people and bad people alike, but lets not get me started or youll be reading till your grey and old. Funny looks, yeah we get those alot, when Matt and I go to the grocery store for the animals you should see the looks, but then again we are the only ones standing in lne with 50 cans of peach baby food (geckos), some things just cant be explained easily to the cashier, so we let them think what they want. (if ony they sold rats there, id be able to do everything at one store). Like i said some people just dont get it, to them we most likely look like people who are abusing there child by forsing them to be a vegitarian at a young age.
On a serious note, this buisness is our lives, we are 100% dedicated to our animals and our customers. I couldnt imagine my life with out reptiles. Even though this is our buisness we still manage to find time to work full time jobs, things dont pay for themselves quite yet, we are hoping they will in the near future though, right now we are keeping the animals sperate from our bills, or at least trying to, they substain themselves and thats more then we could ask for because we still get to work with them everyday. This trade isnt nessasarily an easy one, reptiles make great pets, but i strongly would urge people not to buy into this trade to turn a quick buck. If you dont trully "love" your investment, (not just the money it makes), it is very difficult to make things work. The love for these animals is what pushes us after a long hard day of work, its what keeps us up till 12 at night sometimes working with and maintaning them. They are what keeps us going when we are in our ruts, not the money we make from them. If you are considering buying an animal, of any sort, love the animal you buy, and that animal will be a much happier animal. Id like to end this with just saying thanks to all of our friend in the trade we love all of you guys, it has been a pleasure working with all of you. We have so many memories becuase of you guys some we may or may not want to remember .. you know who you are... We look foward to making many more!!! Id also like to thank a good friend Aaron Burkett, for finding the original Sable Ball (AKA Genetic Hypermelanistics), and selling us a pair of them, a trully amazing morph, which we beleive will be a door opener to many new things in the future, so thanks again man!!!Also we'd like to thank Aaron for introducing the Silver Ghost to the trade, another amazing morph that has stunned many breeders. Keep up the good work !!!!. We'd also like to thank Shawn Fay (owner of Regal Reptiles), he has helped us out a great deal, not only has he opened the door to reptiles for us, but he helped us fund a few of our very first projects. We learned alot from working at his shop, not only about the buisness but about the animals themselves, we learned an unbelivable amount of information from hands on experience and also from talking to others in the trade, so thank you Shawn for starting us out. Finally we'd like to thank all of our customers who have supported us and purchased animals in the past, we wouldnt be here if it wasnt for you guys. It has been a pleasure serving all of your reptile needs and we look foward to working with all of our old customers again and cant wait to establish relationships with new cutomers in the future. Thank you again to all of you, you are all appreciated :)
I guess that is enough information, i wouldnt want to cause readers to to fall asleep at there computers although i probally could, but i will save you the bordom. If you have any questions for us we are here for you as always, go to our Contact page to get a hold of us, or if you want to talk to us in person come visit us at the shows, wed love to sit and just talk to others like ourselves.
See you all around. Thanks again for everyones support... Keep buying snakes.. and geckos..lol Kim and Matt.
